India Retains Border Gavaskar Trophy After 71 Years of Wait in Australia.

Virat Kohli's men are rising from toe to head as the series goes on the way. It all started way back in 2014 at the Adelaide Test when Ms Dhoni had decided to put a full stop to his test career. Since then Virat Kohli has taken up this challenge and lead the team to overseas series wins over West Indies, Sri Lanka and now the recent team to be beaten at home is Australia which came after decade long 71 years.

The last victory came at 1948 series when India had won their first series against Australia. This Indian Team has one of the best pace bowling battery with the trio of Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma then ever before. The Indian team had always struggled to get their lines and length correct and to maintain that discipline throughout the innings which allowed the batsmen to score and especially the tail has always wagged against India in recent times.

It was Philander and Rabada for SA and Sam Curran for England. With series losses against South Africa and England, Virat Kohli's men have bounced back strongly to turn the tables around this time around in Australia and also shows that this Indian Team has the quality or the ability to learn from their mistakes committed earlier and also not to repeat them again in coming tours.

They managed to get the partnership going regularly and most importantly the top 3 batsmen getting runs for the team at crucial times when it was most needed has seen the team tasting success in Australia, not relying on Virat Kohli to score the bulk of runs and taking individual responsibility of the team had made the difference towards the team with Pujara, Rahane, Mayank Agarwal and Rishabh Pant standing up against the chin music. Such was the dominance of the batsmen that did not allow the Australian quicks to get through them.

Not only batting but bowling which has been their strength in recent times exposed the fragility of the aussies batting lineup and such was their fragility that a full day's play could have been enough to win three test matches in the series had the heavens not turned up.

Rain did play a spoilsport in this series which had denied india to win most of their matches on this tour. While Australian batting was severely handicapped due to the the suspensions of their premier batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner but it can take nothing away from the heady achievement of Kohli's men, who have conquered the unchartered frontier with a lion hearted display. This series victory has been rated as one of the finest since the 1983 and 1985 championship trophies under Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar.

"The Ball Tempering Saga : Recent Cricket Blunder in the history of Cricket Australia."

The scandal shook the cricketing world when Steven Smith and David Warner came up with what was happened to be an unethical decision of tampering the ball to gain an upper hand in the test match against South Africa when the bowlers failed to get reverse swing or any sideways movement and also did not get any assistance from the pitch only leading to ruin their careers and faced the dire consequences which they never would have realised in the future. The incident took place during the Third Test match against South Africa in Cape Town when Cameron Bancroft was caught by television cameras trying to rough up one side of the ball with sandpaper to make it swing in flight while Captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner were found to be involved and all three received unprecedented lengthy bans from international and domestic cricket from Cricket Australia. Steve Smith and David Warner were given one year ban, while Cameron Bancroft was given 9 months of ban. This s...

Global Trends in Sports Industry.

I feel that Social Media plays an important role in a field especially like sports where businesses treat their fans as ”god” and it is the only way by which consumers can interact with the business or the sport. The recent trend in the sports industry has been the rise of social media engagements with newer technology and changing consumer habits has led to more opportunity and uncertaint satisfy consumer’s needs and wants. The biggest question today is that whether the media rights will still prevail in spite of fall in traditional TV business. In developed markets, pay-television has been the engine of media revenue growth for two decades or more. Facebook and Amazon made huge strides into sports content in 2017 by making serious content based videos. But it’s clear that we are a way off that scenario. Facebook and Amazon are still experimenting and searching for a business model that have not yet committed for serious cash to sports. And so far there is no model in sigh...

Development of Sports Skills

According to my opinion sports skills are acquired in a very progressive sequence.  Not every child will acquire each and every skill as they have to go tremendous training. Supervised, Unstructured and exploratory activities in a safe environment are the way to go. Once children are a few years old, hints of sports skills start to develop and take shape. The preparation process for sports readiness begins. To be acquired successfully, sports skills involve a complex interaction between movement, sight and thought. Motor skills (movement) requires the right visual processing to allow the correct movement response. These skills also require appropriate brain processing and thought patterns so that the response will be meaningful and effective.  Motor skills are very important in the field of sports and one has to be strong in order to be successful in the field of sports.  In cricket, these skills are been given a great amount of importance if a player wants t...
